ROMANCE!

So this week I had to take my state exam things in Algebra 1, Literature, and Biology. I think I've mentioned this about a kazillion times before, but I'm cyberschooled, so I had to actually go somewhere to take these exams.

On one of the days, I noticed that a teacher brought in some old comic books for us to read when we were finished with our exams. So I took a look at them... Oh my gosh were they weird...

First of all they were from the 70's... Then I noticed they were romance comics. O_O Really, really weird ones. One of the girls in the comic books was wearing a fuzzy bikini. It looked like she skinned a muppet!

In case you're interested, the muppet bikini is in this issue of "Career Girl Romances". You can find it on eBay for about $10.

                  For Lovers Only (1971) 76

The other one I looked at was called "For Lovers Only" and one of the stories was about this girl that fell in love with a cop. She broke up with him when he GAVE HER A SPEEDING TICKET. The story lines were so hilariously bad and cheesy that I am seriously considering buying some on eBay.

In a different romance comic (I can't remember its title) the girl was all "Oh, Brad! Before we continue in this relantionship, I must admit something." Now, you're expecting her to say something like she murdered someone, or she has a third arm or something like that, but she says, "I don't really work at the casino! I work at an office! I only lied to make myself sound more interesting!"

                           *facepalm*

They guy says something like, "It's fine, baby. I'll always love you!" and then they smooch in the sunset. Oh, people.

Whoa! Eclectic riff!

How do you like the new design of Holly's Menel? I think it turned out great myself. I've been listening to lots of Jimi Hendrix lately and I was inspired.

Speaking of which, I'm going to share some songs that I've been listening to lately. I just love making these lists. This is a rather short one, but I recommend listening to the songs. They're just great.

3.Voodoo Child - Jimi Hendrix

This is one of Jimi Hendrix's most popular songs and I can see why. It's just fantastic. Dat guitar at the beginning...

2. Love is Blindness - Jack White

Overall, I must say I'm pretty disappionted with the soundtrack for the Great Gatsby. I read and LOVED the book, and I just can't see Jay Z music in the movie adaptation. BUT, there are two stand out songs in it. One of which is Jack White's cover of U2's song Love is Blindness. I love both verisons of the song, but I love how raw and emotional Jack's cover is.

1. Over the Love - Florence and the Machine

Over the Love is the other song I loved from the Great Gatsby soundtrack. This song is perfect in so many ways. It sounds lovely and so emotional even to people who haven't read the Great Gatsby. If you have read the Great Gatsby, you'll find so many references. The green light is an obvious one, as is the symbolic color yellow. Whoever wrote this song, I salute you.

In Peppermintsoup news, we filmed two videos a few days ago and we're working on getting those up. We have sooo many video ideas, so don't think we've left! D: Ashley's just been extremely busy with schoolwork and trying to keep her 4.0 GPA. Everyone here cannot wait until summer... Ugh. Let's just all push through these next weeks and we'll make it! I can already hear the lawn mowers running over flip flops...
